Unfortunately, many of us have yet to hear of the delicious wonder known as white bbq sauce or Alabama white barbeque sauce, but this mayonnaise-based bbq sauce is heavenly.
What Is White Bbq Sauce?
White BBQ Sauce is a barbecue sauce created by whisking mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, mustard, brown sugar, and horseradish along with salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
Who Invented Alabama White Sauce?
White bbq sauce originated out of Northern Alabama. Robert Gibson invented Alabama White Sauce at Big Bob Gibson’s Bar-B-Q in Decatur, Alabama.
At this particular establishment, the smoked chicken was submerged into containers of white bbq sauce just before it was served to customers.
The creamy white sauce enhanced the flavor of the meat, providing a tangy, delicious flavor, unlike any other bbq tomato-based barbeque sauce.
How Do You Make Alabama White Sauce
Most barbeque sauces require simmering the sauce on the stove.
However, this white bbq sauce recipe is a no-cook barbeque sauce that only takes 5 minutes to prepare. It’s so easy a fool could make this sauce.
You can even throw a white sauce bbq themed party!
To make this white sauce bbq, all you need to do is pour mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, dijon mustard, lemon juice, horseradish, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika.
Whisk it until the barbeque sauce is smooth and creamy! Best of all, if you do not use this sauce right away, you can store the white bbq sauce in an airtight container or Mason jar in the fridge for two weeks.
You can use this bbq sauce for salads, smoked or grilled meats, roasted chicken. You can even use this white bbq sauce as a marinade!
This sauce will go with nearly any food you can think of!
Alabama White Bbq Sauce Recipe
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Mason jar
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp prepared horseradish
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cajun seasoning
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- Add the mayonnaise, apple cider, dijon mustard, lemon juice, horseradish, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper to a large bowl. Whisk all of the white bbq sauce ingredients together until it is smooth and creamy.
