The Rec Tec Pellet Grills were created by Ray Carnes in 2008. He credits his friend Ron Cundy for being one of the main reasons Rec Tec even exists.
This is because Ray Carnes’ friend provided him with a decent amount of financial backing so he could create the Rec Tec brand.
For the time being, a majority of Rec Tec products are made in China, something the creator is open about.
To be specific, a large part of the grills are made in factories in China, but there are also parts that are still made in Georgia, USA.
At the US factory location in Georgia, the final assembly, quality control, and computer are made.
It makes it seem like the Rec Tec brand has a teamwork situation going on between its factory in China and the factory in the United States of America.
When Did Rec Tec Get Renamed and Why?
In 2020 Rec Tec was renamed to recteq, which is supposed to be spelled in all lowercase letters.
They said they did this because they wanted the company’s name to reflect their shift to a lifestyle brand.
Lifestyle brand meaning they are selling more than just grills to their customers.
Interestingly enough, the q that was added in the rebranded name is to reflect that they sell barbeques.
It is a little addition that everyone might not notice, but the customers that do are sure to get a chuckle out of it.
